About My Silk Painting
My experience over the years of learning and growing, and teaching the art of silk painting has been both exciting and challenging.
Each of my silk paintings has its own characteristics and may require specific tools, techniques and implementation processes.
The process of forming a design does not begin when I hold a pencil and draw on paper or silk. Instead, each artwork arises from a narrative that may have been in my mind, feelings from recent or distant times, and reveals itself today with a spark.
I painted on 100% white silk fabric using special French dyes.
Each of my paintings is unique and one of a kind. They involve many stages, including setting the colours and framing.
To set the colours in the silk fabric permanently, I use the steam-setting method which requires specific expertise. The fixation of the colours by steam method is a challenging process that, if not done correctly and carefully, can cause the silk painted to become stained or burned. Althought the process of steam setting is not easy, once the colours are fixed, they become more resistant to light, heat, cold, and alkaline detergents.
Framing each silk painting is very challenging, because silk fabric is delicate and moves easily, requiring special expreance. After several attempts to have my paintings framed professionally with unsatisfactory results, I decided to frame them myself. One of the major problems was that the straight lines became uneven, which diminished the beauty of my paintings.

All the dyes I use in my artworks are made with the primary colours according to my own formulas. The choice of colours is one of particular importance to me, and often prefer vivid and dazzling colours because of their enormous energy.

My silk painting process involves several steps. I begin by sketching and refining my design on paper. Once the design is finalized, I transfer it onto white, stretched silk using a pencil. I then apply resist along the lines to create clean outlines. After that, I paint the silk using vivid, saturated colours. Finally, I steam the painting to set the colors permanently before framing and displaying it.
All stages are interconnected like links in a chain; without completing one step accurately and successfully, the next step cannot be started.
